Cheers Mum (and Oma)!

Just a short post to share with you the picture below. In it, you see me (no need to point me out, I guess) my shorty mum, and my even shorter grandmother (oma). The height in my family comes from my father’s side. Clearly! Β

Today is the first mothers day for my mumΒ without her mother, as my gran sadly passed away in January. She was my last living grandparent, so everything has moved up a generation; my parents are the grandparents now. As today was a bit special for my mum without hers, I didn’t want to get her a ‘thing’, but I just wanted to spend time with her, make memories, realizing we are all getting older and no one is going to live forever. Time is all we have.

So here’s to my great mum and my lovely grandmother, and all other awesome mothers out there.

What a beautiful photo of three generations! I’m sorry that this is the first Mother’s Day without your grandma. Holidays can be a bit bittersweet when you’ve lost a loved one. That’s wonderful that you decided to just spend quality time with your mom instead of getting her a gift. As I’ve gotten older and have realized what a fast-paced, busy world we live in, I feel like giving of one’s time and undivided attention is sometimes the best gift of all. On the topic of mom’s, mine is visiting soon and I am SO excited!!!

Thanks Beth! πŸ™‚ My grandmother was 94, and she was ‘ready to go’, so to speak, but it still is sad to say goodbye. I hear what you say about giving time and undivided attention, especially the latter; we always seem distracted by what we need to do next, checking our phones when we are with friends, etc. “Undivided’ being the key word there. πŸ™‚

That’s great that your mum will visit soon! Can imagine you miss, as you are so far away! enjoy!!! πŸ™‚
