BBC Item: Why Dutch People are so Tall

In April, I saw a tweet of the Dutch Tall People Association (www.klublangemensen.nl) that BBC would be filming an item about why the Dutch are so tall and that they were looking for tall Dutch people to be featured in that item. I responded, got in touch, and found out they would be filming when I was in Shanghai. So no 15 minutes of fame for me (yet… ๐Ÿ˜‰ ).ย

Yesterday, the Hobbit, who closely Monitors BBC, sent the link to me of the item they shot, so I wanted to share that with you too: click here to go to the item. (In all fairness, I will look like a shorty next to Astrid, the 6’6 lady who is featured in this item.)

Again, there is a link being made with cheese, this time the cheese argument had a bit more flesh on the bones than in a previous article I found, and they say our height could be related to calcium, yet they can’t deny the genetic element. Me marrying a short Brit might mess up the genetics and ruin it all for the future of Dutch Tallness I reckon. ๐Ÿ™‚

I do like how the American scientist said that the Dutch now have ‘achieved’ to be the tallest nation in Europe. As if we were taught in school how to be tall. And to the tall Dutch gentleman who prefers tall women; I appreciate your appreciation for tall women (we are awesome, I must admit! ๐Ÿ˜‰ ), but don’t rule out the short(er) people in this world just because they are short, as they make great partners too!
