Tote to Self

IMG_9179It was roughly 1,5 years ago that I got contaminated with a love for bags. On an average Wednesday night, the Hobbit walked into the bedroom with a huge box, a present for me. I opened it, and there it was: a Large Smythson Eliott tote.  I had been lusting after that bag for almost 2 years.
Until that particular Wednesday evening, all I did was looking at that bag on the website. I even went into the Smythson shop at LHR one day, just to see it. By lack of funds at that point, I only purchased an iPhone case and iPad case, which isn’t quite the same, granted, but at least it was something.

Needless to say, I was thrilled with that gift. I LOVED that bag instantly, and I still do. I have written before that I think large bags and tall women are a great pair, as it doesn’t look that big on us. That bag, that moment, started the bag virus for me. I have even named it, Lady Smyth I is her name. How sad am I?

Over the weekend, I noticed Smythson had a sale on, and I could not help myself; I had a look on their website. I know, I know, asking for trouble. I was still looking for an extra bag for work, especially for when I’m working abroad, to carry paperwork, my laptop, an extra pair of shoes. That’s when I saw this gorgeous East West Tote; quite a bold color but perfectly sized, and not outrageously priced.

It all happened in a flash; my mouse accidentally hit the ‘purchase’ button, and I bought my first designer bag myself. Lady Smyth II is now a happy member of the family. 🙂

I was offered the option to add a note. I now regret not putting ‘tote to self’ on there. 🙂

This is how it got delivered; really feels like a present to myself!
(I know, not according to my Credit Card statement, but I won’t let that ruin my fun!)

Off we go!!

The detailing is impeccable; this is quality material and finishing.

You made an excellent choice. This is a beautiful handbag and I love that you sent a gift note to yourself. I’m on Smythson’s website now looking at the clutches. Uh oh! Trouble!

Thanks Beth! Their website is trouble indeed! I’ll be in London next week; I guess I best not go near Bond Street!! I love their products, it comes at a price, but the quality is amazing, and it will last forever and stay beautiful. That’s why they call it ‘investment pieces’ right? And sometimes you have to treat yourself; I mean, spending a week (or longer) in Italy, isn’t easy right?? 😉
