2015: My First Year of Blogging

Screen Shot 2015-12-29 at 22.56.03As 2015 draws to a close, I’m thinking of where I was one year ago. I remember that the Hobbit and I had dinner together on NYE in a small but lovely restaurant (where we are going back this year) and that we were talking about goals. We both had some personal goals that we wanted to achieve this year, starting a blog was on my list.  Looking back, I can’t believe how well these goals turned out for us both so I’d like to look back at my highlights of  the year 2015! Come join!

Highlight 1: Meeting new people
I love meeting new people and get inspired by their stories. I could have never imagined that blogging would turn out to be a great platform to connect with other people around the world, either tall, travelling, both or just inspiring in their own unique way.

My highlights were meeting fellow blogger Beth of TallFashionAdventures, who was one of the my first followers, and her blog was one of the first I started following. Beth is always supportive, positive and a very patient sounding board when I ask her opinion on an outfit or blogging ideas, as she’s been doing it for so long.
Meeting Pati of antesAltaquesinsilla was a pleasure as well; this gorgeous Barcelona based tall chick knows how to add a bit of edginess to tall fashion! Thank you, my blogfriends!

Highlight 2: Discovering and connecting with Tall Fashion Brands
I love supporting small business, founded by people who are passionate about what they do and who understand their target group, because they are part of it. I had the pleasure of connecting with two inspirational women who did exactly that.

Though we have not met in person (yet), I loved connecting with Kaersten of Marge Clothing over the phone. We had a lovely chat on her amazing, classy, stylish tall fashion line, it was inspiring to talk to someone so passionate about what she does.
I can’t wait to show you my Marge pieces soon!

I also loved meeting Alison of Tall Order Clothing. I have nothing but admiration for this lady starting up her own tall clothing line, and running it all by herself while being a mum too. I’m happily wearing my pieces to the office regularly!

Thank you both Kaersten and Alison, for giving us more choice in clothing!

Highlight 3: Traveling to new places
I must admit; traveling in 2015 was crazy, even for my standards. I don’t think I’ve ever traveled as much as I’ve done this year. Los Angeles, Shanghai, Miami & Palm Harbor, Moscow, Barcelona, New York, Porto, Edinburgh, Italy, Luxembourg, countless trips to amazing places throughout the UK and just returning from Norway sums it up I think. I’m very thankful to have a job that allows me to travel, and that I have a husband who is as passionate about exploring new places as I am. Here’s to new adventures in 2016.

Highlight 4: Great fashion finds
Starting this blog has helped me tremendously in finding my style, discovering tall brands and be more adventurous with fashion. It was actually the year I started buying from ‘Tall Brands’ and I’m so pleased! I’m a bit of a late bloomer when it comes to fashion, and I underestimated for a very long time how the right pieces with a good fit can make you feel so much more confident.

A final word on helping others
I chose not to call this particular bit a highlight, as I have mixed feelings about this one.
In February of this year, I donated stem cells for someone I do not know. I wrote about why I did this and how this came about here and here. Though I am thankful I was given the opportunity to try to save someone’s live, unfortunately it didn’t. I do not know who ‘my patient’ was (they want to keep this anonymous), but I know it was a 56-year-old woman. Six months after the donation, I could enquire about my patient and I was told that sadly, she had passed away.

To me, this does not mean that my donation has been in vain; we tried to give her a chance. Though I can’t be a donor anymore myself due to health reasons discovered while I was donating, I do encourage you to register as a donor.

Here’s to 2016!
So 2015 was everything I hoped for, and more. I can only hope that 2016 can live up to the expectations that 2015 has set. I don’t really do new years resolutions, but if there is one thing I want to focus on in 2016, it is getting back in shape. So I guess I do do new years resolutions. 🙂 Work, blogging, traveling, being sociable all take up a lot of time, but that shouldn’t be an excuse not to stay healthy. Our health is all we have (see above). I’ll keep you posted on my tall&fit journey in 2016!

Finally, thanks to all of you, readers, for making my blog journey worthwhile. I love all your comments, feedback, likes, retweets, and most of all, I love connecting with you.
It makes our world such a small place.  I hope to be meeting more of you next year.
For now I wish you all a happy and healthy 2016!

What a great overview and I’m quite happy to be included as one of your highlights. You definitely have covered a lot of ground in the travel arena and I’m curious to see where you’ll go in 2016. I also find it very admirable that you were willing to donate stem cells even if the ultimate outcome wasn’t what you were hoping for. At least you took a risk and gave someone else a chance at life. As far as your 2016 goal of getting in shape, I’m in the same boat. I need to figure out a consistent exercise routine. Why does it seem so hard?! Hopefully, we can inspire and motivate each other. Happy New Year!
