One of the things that is important to complete an outfit when living in my country, is a good, versatile winter coat. I loved the one I had, but after 3 (or was it 4?) winters, it desperately needed replacing. The lining was torn, and some wrinkles just didn’t come out anymore. After accidentally losing it the hotel bar during my trip to New York, I had no choice but to find a new one, as NYC winters demand a decent coat.
After a nice lunch (maybe judgement was slightly clouded at this point), we decided to have a browse at Saks 5th Avenue.
After fitting quite a few coats from various brands and not finding what I wanted, the Hobbit convinced me to have a look at Burberry. I love this brand, but I assumed I didn’t even have to try this as sleeves would be too short anyway. I decided to give it a go anyway, I had nothing to lose.
Never in a million years did I expect this, but the coat actually fitted. Even the sleeves are long enough. Who would have thought? Yay for clouded judgement. 😉
I always want my ‘formal’ coat to be black, as it pairs with anything. My old one was down to the knee, so I decided to go for something different and chose a shorter model this time.
It’s warm, it’s cosy, it’s classy, it fits. What more can I ask for?
Yes, it is an investment piece, but for an item that I wear often and that I want to stand the test of time, I feel it’s worth it.
I’m very pleased with it, and the Berlin wall seems to approve as well.
