Today was the longest day! Summer has officially started in the Northern hemisphere (hence it rained in NL 😉 ), and it was also a first!
A first for an official tall people day in The Netherlands! The launch of this day was in Amsterdam at ‘Ripley Believe It or Not’, where an on scale ‘statue’ of the tallest man who ever lived, Robert Wadlow (8’11’1 / 2.72m), was presented. He made me look tiny, I quite liked feeling like that, and I’m sure I’ll feel like that again this Sunday!
I was going to make most of this very long day! After a fun morning spent with a lot of tall people, I met up with my friend Sandra who lives abroad. We had some catching up to do, so we spent a lovely afternoon in Amsterdam.
We didn’t make it far as we decided to have lunch at the W hotel, a stone’s throw away from where the launch was. It’s fairly new, and I had never been, but I did hear rumours about a rooftop pool. In Amsterdam. That needed to get a seeing.
Not really a rooftop pool kinda day as you can see, so we decided to just have lunch inside and enjoy some nice food and views over Amsterdam.
Oh, and a glass of wine and festive dessert. We were celebrating the Longest Day after all! 🙂
After an extended lunch -it was still raining- we popped into a few shops only to turn home empty-handed (body scrub doesn’t count, does it?) but with a camera roll full of selfies and ussies.
This longest day was a great one and I’m happy it lasted as long as it did. If you are based in NL, or prepared to travel here, come meet Tallguides‘ Sallee and myself at the Tall Together event on Sunday, but be quick; tickets are selling out quickly after all the exposure today!
