Last Sunday, I went on first time shopping adventure. I visited the Swan Market in my hometown Utrecht. It might be a typical Dutch thing, so let me explain: a Swan Market describes itself as a platform for starting, creative business owners who want to introduce their products to a bigger audience. Put all these gifted people together, and what you get is a lifestyle market showcasing original, often handmade products by passionate people.
Think fashion, vintage, art, interior design, children’s clothes, accessories, anything handmade really.
All in one place, like an offline marketplace, including food trucks, live music and wine.
Sounds right up my street, so I went to for a market stroll with a friend.
Look at these cute these hand-made bags and lovely accessories.
I adored this cute little lady with tassels… Still regret I didn’t take her home.
Shopping is hard work though and makes you hungry…
… and thirsty too, so after our shopping session, we went to one of my favourite wine bars in town: Talud 9. It’s a tiny place, and only has two semi-outside seats looking out over the canal.
On warm days, you can be certain of a cool place to sit inside (as everyone will want to sit outside; we have plenty of other places for that… 😉 ). If you get a chance, try to get the window seats for wine with a view.
And order some lovely light food to go with it.
This pretty much sums up a perfect day in my city. Shopping original items, having a vino and nibbles in the sunshine on the canal. I don’t ask for much in life. Only a Blondie maybe to top it off…
