I was quite looking forward to my trip to Switzerland, as I desperately needed to do some Christmas shopping. As the Hobbit was not able to join me on this trip due to an unforeseen last-minute business trip, I invited my tall friend Beth from Tall Fashion Adventures along for the trip. Failing to find a suitable date to visit a Christmas market last year, we finally managed to go this year. Added bonus: there’s a tall shop in Zürich, so a visit there was mandatory… 🙂
First stop though: the Weihnachtsmarkt at Zürich Bellevue: the biggest in town. You will find stalls at various small squares throughout the city, but the one at Bellevue is the big one, including an equally sized Christmas tree.
Apart from stalls where they sell gifts (think jewellery, accessories, home decoration, hats, gloves, etc.) you will find a whole lotta food here.
Including a specialty native to me: Dutch poffertjes (mini pancakes basically). Who would have thought?
Of course, we had to have some Gluhwein (mulled wine) too.
Both our husbands dislike cheese fondue with a passion, but we both like it, so we took our chance and went for a tasty fondue at a local restaurant (rumour has it two tall girls were spotted the next day at a cheese fondue place in Geneva as well).
After our food experience, we were ready for some tall shopping the next day. Not because we’d fondued out of our clothes, but because we wanted to visit the I Love Tall Boutique. Beth had been there last year already (read her blog post here!) and didn’t mind going again.
We were warmly welcomed by owner Annemarie and we spent our time chatting, fitting, browsing. Did you know she’s opened a boutique in Hamburg too? Two hours and two bags later we left the boutique. If you’re in Zürich, it’s a must! You’ll find various styles of lengthy items here!
After our shopping spree it was time for a wander back to the hotel and pack for the next destination… Geneva!
