A glimpse behind the scenes of the everyday life of a 6ft2 tall globetrotting Dutch girl. Whether running my blog, running an international day job, running from airport to airport, running a home together with a 5ft8 British husband (Aka ‘the Hobbit’), running 3 miles on Sunday morning or running from the occasional runway gig to fashion shoot, I always try to run in style. On this blog, I share bits and pieces of my life and adventures. Fashion, travel, food, lifestyle; if it inspires me, you’ll find it here.
So why the tall thing? When I finally stopped growing at almost 18, I suddenly was referred to as ‘that tall chick’, and people started to ask me if I played basketball. They still ask me, and no, I don’t.
My grandmother was the same height, she was born in 1920. By lack of choice and in true Dutch practical fashion, her style advice was: ‘Girl, you should go to a decent men’s warehouse where they DO sell clothing in your size.’ Thanks Gran. That is the one piece of advice I didn’t take from her, but she had a point: finding fashion that fits when you’re tall can be a challenge. When I was rediscovering my sense of style at thirty something, I wanted to share my finds and offer some inspiration for like-heighted girls with similar style issues, so tallwife.com was created.
It doesn’t end with fashion. I like telling stories and one of my biggest passions is traveling. I’m lucky on two accounts: I travel a lot for my job, and I have a man who shares that passion, so when I am not on a business trip, we are on the look-out for new exciting places to visit, if not already planning the next adventure meticulously. If you have itchy feet but you don’t know where to travel to next, my travel section might offer some inspiration.
Have fun looking around, and feel free to leave a comment as I’d love to hear from you!
